HSEQ OFFICER

£35,000 - £45,000 per annum + Company Vehicle

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSEQ Officer to join a growing construction and utilities business. This is a hybrid, UK-wide role and the successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK, with travel to project sites typically required 2-3 days per week. A company vehicle is provided as part of the package.

The role will support the safe, compliant and environmentally responsible delivery of electrical and civil works. Experience within high-voltage (HV) environments would be preferred; however, candidates with strong low-voltage (LV) electrical experience will also be considered.

Working closely with operational teams, contractors and key stakeholders, you will promote a positive safety culture, provide practical HSEQ guidance, monitor compliance with relevant legislation and company procedures, and support continuous improvement across projects.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the application and ongoing maintenance of required industry accreditations, including NERS-related requirements.

Maintain employee and relevant subcontractor competency matrices.

Manage supplier and subcontractor pre-qualification processes (PQQs) and assist with client PQQ applications.

Attend site meetings and contribute to health, safety, environmental and quality discussions.

Conduct site safety walks and audits, review risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and monitored.

Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to project teams to help achieve project objectives safely and compliantly.

Coordinate mandatory and technical training for employees.

Ensure appropriate contractor safety management arrangements are established and maintained.

Prepare, review and monitor project documentation including RAMS, permits to work, lifting plans, COSHH assessments and emergency plans.

Promote environmental awareness and reinforce safe working practices across employees, subcontractors and site visitors.

Monitor environmental and quality requirements across projects.

Investigate, formally record and report accidents, incidents, near misses and NCRs across the wider business.

Coordinate the authorisation process in line with LRQA expectations.

 

Essential Experience & Qualifications

NERS qualification / relevant NERS accreditation experience.

SMSTS or equivalent qualification.

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level qualification.

Knowledge and practical experience of CDM Regulations 2015.

Previous experience within utilities and/or construction environments.

Electrical sector experience, ideally within high-voltage (HV) environments; strong low-voltage (LV) experience will also be considered.

Strong analytical, communication, report-writing, planning and organisational skills.

Competent user of Microsoft Office and Google applications.

Full UK driving licence.

 

Desirable

High-voltage (HV) electrical project experience.

Basic First Aid certificate.

Fire Prevention certificate.

NEBOSH Construction qualification.

Experience implementing HSEQ within a highly technical or complex industrial environment.

Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Environmental and/or Quality qualification.

Understanding of LRQA's Competence Authorisation Process.

IOSH membership at Technical level.

 

Salary & Package

£35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Company vehicle provided.

Hybrid working arrangement.

Can be based anywhere in the UK.

Travel to project sites typically 2-3 days per week.
