HSQE Assistant

My Client, who is a prinicpal contractor within the rail industry is currently looking to recruit a HSQE Assistant to join their team in Eastleigh.
Purpose of the role
To provide day-to-day support to the HSQE function by coordinating Integrated Management System (IMS) activity, maintaining records, supporting audits, monitoring actions and ensuring HSQE information is accurate, current and readily available.
Key Responsibilities
- Help maintain IMS documents, registers, review schedules, version-control records and compliance evidence.
- Support internal, external, ISO, RISQS, client and supplier audits, including schedules, evidence packs, findings and action trackers.
- Maintain close call, incident, non-conformance and corrective-action records, following up and escalating overdue actions.
- Gather and check HSQE performance data, including FWI, AFR, close calls, incidents, inspections and non-conformances.
- Prepare routine KPI reports, dashboards, management-review information and basic trend analysis.
- Support supplier, contractor, training, competence, inspection, surveillance and compliance records.
- Assist with HSQE communications, meetings, workforce engagement and other routine assurance activities.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
Required Skills
- Strong organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
- Ability to maintain registers, records, action trackers and compliance evidence.
- Confidence following up actions with managers, operational teams and suppliers.
- Basic understanding of document control, audits or management systems.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in HSQE, compliance, rail, construction or engineering.
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Environmental training or awareness.
- Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and RISQS.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections, corrective actions or KPI reporting.
Working Relationship
The role will report to the HSQE Manager and work with directors, operational and project teams, suppliers, clients and external auditors. The role will support HSQE coordination, administration and monitoring. Overall accountability for HSQE governance, formal approvals, compliance decisions and IMS effectiveness will remain with the HSQE Manager and relevant accountable managers.
