Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Humanities Teacher to join a secondary school in Telford.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging and purposeful Humanities lessons.
  • Teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach at Key Stage 5 where required.
  • Creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, debate and independent thinking.
  • Supporting students to develop strong analytical, critical-thinking and communication skills.
  • Differentiating and adapting lessons to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and other additional needs.
  • Assessing, marking and providing constructive feedback to support student progress.
  • Preparing students effectively for GCSE examinations and supporting strong academic outcomes.
  • Developing students’ understanding of historical, geographical, social and cultural issues.
  • Working collaboratively within the Humanities department to contribute to the continued success of the faculty.
  • Supporting the wider development of students through positive relationships, high expectations and effective classroom management.
  • Encouraging students to take pride in their learning and develop the confidence and skills needed for their future education and careers.
The School Are Looking For
  • Humanities ECTs or fully qualified Humanities Teachers.
  • Experience teaching Humanities within UK secondary school classrooms.
  • Strong knowledge of the relevant Humanities curriculum.
  • Experience teaching GCSE Humanities subjects, such as History, Geography or Religious Studies.
  • A genuine passion for Humanities and the ability to inspire curiosity and a love of learning.
  • A calm, professional and engaging classroom presence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a genuine commitment to supporting student progress.
  • A commitment to creating a positive, ambitious and inclusive learning environment.
