HV Cables Lead for a major offshore wind project in the uk
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and advice on all relevant aspects of HV cable design for Onshore Export, Offshore Export, and Inter-Array Cables, as well as other interfacing packages.
- Prepare technical documents and papers for internal review.
- Develop Employer's Requirements and technical specifications.
- Manage subconsultants, ensuring HSSE requirements are incorporated into the designs and that quality standards are achieved.
- Review and critique cable FEED scope and deliverables.
- Support the project during the Detailed Design, Installation, and Commissioning phases.
- Contribute to design interfaces, including cable installation, cable rating analysis, and electrical system integration.
- Participate in technical discussions with consultants, suppliers, OEMs, installers, and other external stakeholders.
- Participate in project team meetings and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve designs and propose alternative technical solutions to add value.
Requirements
- Experience in Cable Burial Risk Assessment (CBRA), cable protection, cable burial, routing, and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) installation.
- Understanding of cable rating calculations under different installation and operating conditions, and their impact on the overall design.
- Understanding of HV cable installation at HDD landfalls, offshore export routes, and offshore substations.
- Knowledge of cable system design across the full project lifecycle, from pre-FEED through FEED, detailed design, installation, and commissioning.
- Ability to carry out or participate in engineering optioneering studies to identify the most effective technical and commercial solutions.
