HV Commissioning Engineer (Primary Injection / TPI) / UK / Full-Time Permanent / Salary Competitive

Position 1 Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer with strong Primary Injection (TPI) and protection testing experience to join a specialist power engineering company delivering high voltage solutions across the UK and overseas.

Full-Time | Permanent | UK & Overseas Travel | HV Systems 33kV–400kV

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HV Engineer to work on complex electrical power systems, carrying out commissioning, testing, fault finding, and maintenance activities across substations, switchgear, transformers, and associated HV plant.

Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out HV commissioning and testing activities on systems from 33kV to 400kV.
• Perform Transformer Primary Injection (TPI), CT primary injection, secondary injection, and protection relay testing.
• Commission, maintain, and fault-find on HV switchgear, transformers, substations, and protection systems.
• Complete electrical testing including AC dielectric testing, functional testing, and system diagnostics.
• Support planned maintenance activities including partial discharge testing, thermal imaging, and condition assessments.
• Carry out control wiring modifications, retrofit upgrades, and equipment function testing.
• Work with modern protection systems including IEC 61850, G99, differential, and distance protection schemes.
• Produce accurate commissioning reports, test records, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Provide technical support to customers and assist with emergency response requirements.
• Supervise site activities and coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients when required.

The Candidate Will Have:
• Proven experience in HV commissioning, testing, or protection engineering.
• Potential knowledge of primary injection testing, CT testing, protection relays, and HV switchgear.
• Experience working on electrical systems from 33kV–400kV.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and complete technical reports.
• Good understanding of HV safety procedures and working practices.
• Experience working independently and as part of a field-based engineering team.
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK and overseas when required.
• Full UK driving licence.
