Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Hybrid Security/Portering Supervisor to provide day-to-day operational supervision of both the Portering and Security teams, ensuring the safe, effective and professional delivery of services across the hospital.

Job Overview

The Hybrid Security/Portering Supervisor will provide visible leadership across the Portering and Security functions, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard. The successful candidate will coordinate resources, support operational priorities and help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Working closely with Security and Portering supervisors, you will oversee daily operational activities, respond to incidents and emergencies, monitor service standards and ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures and statutory requirements. This role requires a proactive and organised individual capable of supporting both service delivery and team performance.

Shift Pattern

  • 4 on, 4 off rotation
  • Days and nights covered as part of the rota
  • Shifts run from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00
  • Flexibility is required to work solely on days or solely on nights for periods as operationally required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline supervision, guidance and support to Portering and Security teams.
  • Allocate staff and resources effectively to meet operational demands and service priorities.
  • Supervise the movement of patients, equipment, specimens and goods throughout the hospital.
  • Coordinate responses to security incidents and support officers during challenging situations.
  • Ensure security patrols, access control processes, visitor management and incident reporting standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate operational responses to emergency situations, including fire alarms, major incidents and business continuity events.
  • Monitor attendance, performance standards, uniform compliance and support staff wellbeing and engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, organisational policies, incident reporting requirements and mandatory training standards.

Person Specification

  • Experience supervising teams within Portering, Security, Facilities Management or a similar operational environment.
  • Experience managing staff performance and attendance.
  • Experience dealing with incidents, emergencies and operational escalations.
  • Experience completing reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience working within a customer-focused environment.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Supervisory qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understanding of healthcare operational environments, health and safety legislation, security principles, incident reporting processes, and equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
