Hydraulic Fitter / Hydraulic Engineer
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering organisation in the Glasgow area for an experienced Hydraulic Fitter / Hydraulic Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business specialising in hydraulic systems, supporting a diverse range of marine, industrial and engineering projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic systems, mechanical fitting and maintenance. We also welcome applications from candidates with experience in hydraulic hose assembly manufacturing, fluid power systems, marine engineering or industrial maintenance environments.
The position is primarily based in Glasgow and across the Central Belt; however, there may be occasional requirements to work away on customer sites along the South Coast, typically involving only a few nights away at a time.

Due to the nature of some projects, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair hydraulic systems and components in line with industry standards.
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, root cause analysis and repairs on hydraulic equipment.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Assemble, overhaul and refurbish hydraulic cylinders, valves, pumps and related hydraulic components.
- Assist with the testing, commissioning and validation of hydraulic systems.
- Prepare technical reports and maintenance documentation as required.
- Work closely with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Support marine and industrial maintenance, installation and repair activities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company quality standards.
- Travel to customer sites as required to support installations, maintenance and project activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Hydraulic Fitter, Hydraulic Engineer, Mechanical Fitter or within a related engineering discipline.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on fitting experience.
- Experience working with hydraulic systems, including installation, maintenance and fault finding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Ability to work across multiple sites and projects when required.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel and overnight stays.
Desirable
- Experience manufacturing and assembling hydraulic hose assemblies.
- Marine engineering experience.
- Industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering background.
- Previous experience commissioning hydraulic systems.
- Hydraulic qualifications or fluid power training.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
Friday: 08:00 - 13:30
Overtime
- Monday to Saturday: Time and a Half (1.5x)
- Sunday: Double Time (2x)
- Overtime paid after completion of the standard working week.
