Do you have experience working with Identity and Access Management processes?
Have you been involved in Joiners, Movers and Leavers, access control or identity lifecycle projects?
Would you like to develop your Microsoft Entra and Identity Governance knowledge within a growing consultancy?
We are recruiting for an IAM Business Analyst to join a growing Microsoft-focused technology consultancy on an initial six-month fixed-term contract.
There is a strong possibility that the role could become permanent as the business continues to grow, although this cannot be guaranteed.
This role will focus on helping clients improve how user access is requested, approved, granted, reviewed and removed.
A key part of the position will be reviewing Joiners, Movers and Leavers processes, identifying manual or inefficient ways of working and helping to define opportunities for greater automation through Microsoft Entra.
You may already be working as an IAM Business Analyst, or you could be an IAM Analyst, Identity Analyst or Access Management Analyst with strong process, stakeholder and documentation skills who is ready to take the next step.
You do not need to be a Microsoft Entra engineer. However, you will need a good understanding of IAM principles and enough technical awareness to work confidently with clients, architects and technical consultants.
The Role
You will support IAM projects from discovery and requirements gathering through to testing, implementation and handover.
Your work will include running discovery sessions and requirements workshops with clients, reviewing existing Joiners, Movers and Leavers processes and understanding how access is currently requested, approved, provisioned and removed.
You will identify manual processes, control gaps and opportunities for automation, while documenting current-state and future-state identity processes.
You will gather and document business and functional requirements, produce process maps, user stories and acceptance criteria, and support the design of improved access request and approval workflows.
You will also help define role-based access controls and access models, support provisioning and deprovisioning process improvements and work with architects and technical consultants to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
The role will also involve supporting access reviews and identity governance activities, managing actions, decisions, risks and project documentation, supporting User Acceptance Testing and presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience in Business Analysis, Identity and Access Management, cyber security or a closely related area.
You should have experience gathering and documenting requirements and a good understanding of Identity and Access Management principles.
Knowledge of Joiners, Movers and Leavers processes is important, along with experience reviewing user access, approval or account-management processes.
You should understand access control, least privilege, provisioning and deprovisioning, and ideally have experience identifying process improvements or opportunities for automation.
Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills are essential, as you will be working with both technical and non-technical people.
You should be comfortable understanding complex processes, explaining them clearly and producing process maps, user stories or acceptance criteria.
You will also need strong written documentation skills, good attention to detail and the confidence to ask detailed questions and challenge existing ways of working.
Microsoft Identity Knowledge
You do not need to be a Microsoft Entra specialist, but some experience or exposure to Microsoft identity technologies would be useful.
This may include Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID Governance, identity lifecycle management, Lifecycle Workflows, provisioning and deprovisioning, Entitlement Management, Access Packages, Access Reviews, Privileged Identity Management, Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication, Single Sign-On, enterprise applications, guest access, role-based access control, Active Directory, hybrid identity and Microsoft 365 access controls.
You do not need experience across all of these areas.
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart or Azure DevOps would also be useful.
The Person
This is a consultancy environment, so your communication style and approach will be just as important as your technical knowledge.
You are likely to be naturally curious, comfortable asking detailed questions and confident working through ambiguity.
You will enjoy turning complicated processes into something clear and structured and will look for practical ways to reduce manual work and improve controls.
You should be able to build trust with clients and technical teams, take ownership of documentation and follow actions through.
You will also understand the importance of security, governance and data protection and be able to adapt your communication depending on the audience.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing Microsoft consultancy and gain broader exposure to IAM, Microsoft Entra and Identity Governance projects.
You will work closely with experienced architects and technical consultants, giving you the opportunity to strengthen your identity knowledge while continuing to develop your Business Analysis, stakeholder and consultancy skills.
Although the role is initially offered as a six-month fixed-term contract, there is a strong possibility of it developing into a permanent opportunity as the business continues to grow.
You will be joining a collaborative company where people are trusted to take ownership of their work, ideas are welcomed and there is genuine scope to develop.
