We are seeking an experienced, motivated and customer-focused professional who is passionate about helping people to remain independent, safe and well in their own homes to join our Housing Standards Service.

This position is an opportunity to play a leading role in the management and development of our Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and housing adaptations service, delivering essential support to vulnerable residents across Broadland and South Norfolk.

Working alongside the Housing Standards Senior Manager, you will provide operational leadership, manage a dedicated team, oversee complex adaptation cases, drive service improvements and ensure the effective delivery of DFGs, discretionary assistance and related housing support schemes.

This role may also be suitable as a development opportunity for an experienced senior officer with substantial knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants, housing adaptations or housing assistance who is looking to take the next step into management.

About the Role

As IHAT Manager, you will be integral to the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of the Integrated Housing Adaptations Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting the delivery of the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and Integrated Housing Adaptations Team (IHAT) service, ensuring high-quality, customer-focused outcomes and compliance with legislation, policies and grant conditions.
  • Providing line management, leadership and operational oversight for designated staff, deputising for the Housing Standards Senior Manager when required.
  • Managing complex housing adaptation and DFG cases, providing specialist technical advice and working collaboratively with residents, Occupational Therapists, contractors, health professionals and partner organisations.
  • Monitoring service performance, budgets and grant funding, ensuring resources are effectively managed and available funding is maximised to support service delivery.
  • Driving service improvement, transformation and partnership working, including project management, policy development, performance reporting and promoting the service across internal and external stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and capable manager with experience of leading teams and delivering high-quality services in a busy operational environment. You'll hold a degree in a relevant subject, or be able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience, and have strong communication, problem-solving and people management skills.

You'll be confident interpreting complex information and legislation, using sound judgement to support effective decision-making and service delivery. Working collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and elected members, you'll help drive service improvements, develop and support your team, and play an important role in delivering an excellent service for our customers, communities and local businesses.
