Airfreight Import Coordinator

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We are looking for an organised and customer-focused Airfreight Import Coordinator to join our operations team. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end import process for airfreight shipments, ensuring cargo moves efficiently, compliantly, and on schedule. The role also involves supporting European road freight operations where required, while delivering a high standard of customer service and maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end coordination of airfreight import shipments from origin through to final delivery.
  • Receive and process customer bookings, providing accurate quotations based on customer requirements.
  • Arrange transport services, including airfreight imports and European road freight, coordinating collections and deliveries as required.
  • Prepare and check all shipping and import documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Complete and submit Customs Declarations in accordance with current customs regulations.
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates to customers throughout the import process.
  • Liaise daily with customers, airlines, hauliers, customs authorities, and overseas agents to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues promptly, escalating where appropriate.
  • Carry out general administration and accounting duties relevant to the role.
  • Support the wider operations team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, customs requirements, and industry regulations.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience within airfreight imports is essential.
  • Experience of European road freight operations.
  • Working knowledge of CargoWise.
  • Experience completing Customs Declarations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong data entry and administrative skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A flexible, reliable, and positive attitude with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
