Branta Recruitment is partnering with a rapidly expanding, highly reputable national specialist maintenance company to recruit an Air Conditioning Improver / Assistant Engineer based in Yorkshire who is eager to step up and develop into Commercial Refrigeration.

This is the perfect role for an ambitious engineer who holds their F-Gas ticket, has solid foundational experience in Air Conditioning, and wants to accelerate their technical career with a industry leader. You will work alongside experienced senior engineers across diverse commercial and retail sites, gaining hands-on exposure and specialist training in light commercial refrigeration, cellar cooling, and advanced cooling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, and reactive repairs on AC and cooling plant.

  • Work on split systems, multi-splits, VRV/VRF units, and air handling equipment.

  • Gain hands-on exposure and direct training on commercial refrigeration systems (cellar cooling, cold rooms, bottle coolers, and display cabinets).

  • Conduct leak testing, filter changes, coil cleaning, and system performance checks in line with F-Gas standards.

  • Assist with fault diagnosis, component replacement, and minor installation works.

  • Complete digital job sheets and maintain accurate compliance records.

Requirements:

  • F-Gas Category 1 Certification (C&G 2079 / CITB) – Essential.

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience as an Air Conditioning Mate, Improver, or Assistant Engineer.

  • Genuine desire and ambition to learn, train, and progress into Commercial Refrigeration.

  • Level 2 NVQ in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (desirable, but relevant experience considered).

  • Strong work ethic, proactive attitude, and professional client-facing skills.

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
