Industrial Refrigeration Engineer – Ammonia & CO₂

Vibrant Recruits Ltd

Are you an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Engineer looking for a role where your skills are properly rewarded, and where you can build on your Ammonia and CO₂ experience?

This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering team working on industrial refrigeration systems across food factories, warehouses and distribution centres, not supermarket work.

You'll be home-based, travelling directly to customer sites, with most of your work kept within your local area.

On top of your base salary of £45,000–£70,000, there is plenty of opportunity to increase your earnings through overtime, standby and additional call-out work.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for keeping a range of industrial refrigeration systems operating safely, efficiently and reliably across a varied customer base.
  • Service, maintain, repair and commission industrial refrigeration systems, primarily Ammonia and CO₂
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and reactive breakdown work
  • Complete fault finding and troubleshooting to minimise downtime for customers
  • Carry out compressor overhauls and other specialist refrigeration work
  • Carry out refrigerant-related work safely and in accordance with relevant legislation and company procedures
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records and customer documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers, explaining faults, work completed and recommendations
  • Work independently across multiple industrial sites while maintaining high standards of health and safety

You'll work across food production facilities, cold stores, warehouses, distribution centres and other industrial environments, giving you exposure to a wide variety of systems and challenges.

What We're Looking For

  • We're looking for an experienced engineer who is confident working independently and enjoys the technical challenge that comes with industrial refrigeration.
  • Around 3–5 years' industrial refrigeration experience
  • Strong experience with Ammonia and/or CO₂ refrigeration systems
  • Good understanding of industrial refrigeration principles, controls and safety
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
  • Valid F-Gas certification
  • Ammonia handling training/certification, or relevant practical experience, relevant qualification in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional approach to customer service, communication and health & safety
  • Full UK driving licence

Don't have experience with both Ammonia and CO₂? That's not necessarily a deal-breaker. If you have a solid commercial refrigeration background and are keen to develop your knowledge, there is training available to help you build your expertise.

What's In It for You?

  • This is a package designed to properly reward experienced industrial refrigeration engineers.
  • £45,000–£70,000 base salary, depending on experience and contract
  • Lucrative weekly standby payment
  • Time and a half overtime Monday–Saturday, double time Sundays and Bank Holidays
  • Door-to-door travel paid at time and a half
  • Plenty of overtime and the opportunity to significantly increase your OTE
  • Company van with personal use
  • Company phone and table, laptop provided for access to customer site portals
  • 25 days' holiday + Bank Holidays
  • Private Medical Insurance and salary sacrifice pension
  • Ongoing professional training and development
  • Develop your Industrial Refrigeration Career

Whether you're already highly experienced with Ammonia and CO₂ or you're a refrigeration engineer looking to expand your skill set, you'll have the opportunity to keep developing.
