Injection Moulding Setter/ Maintenance Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and proactive Injection Moulding Setter / Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual who can take responsibility for machine performance, process optimisation, product quality, and equipment maintenance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved through efficient machine setting, continuous process improvement, preventative maintenance, and effective problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Set, start-up, and optimise injection moulding machines to achieve maximum efficiency and product quality.
• Carry out mould changes safely and efficiently.
• Optimise processes to ensure target cycle times are consistently achieved.
• Maintain production quality standards and machine productivity uptime.
• Monitor machine performance and take corrective action to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve process, tooling, and machine-related issues.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and support reactive maintenance activities.
• Ensure machines are set in a clean, organised, and safe manner suitable for production operatives.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the production and maintenance areas.
• Update performance monitoring systems with accurate production and maintenance data.
• Provide daily reports on machine performance, production output, downtime, quality concerns, and improvement actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to achieve business objectives.
• Ensure all assigned objectives are completed On Time, In Full, and to the required standard.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Injection Moulding Setter is essential.
• Ability to independently set, start-up, and optimise injection moulding machines from day one.
• Experience carrying out mould changes, process adjustments, and troubleshooting production issues.
• Understanding of cycle time optimisation, quality control, and machine productivity monitoring.
• Basic maintenance and fault-finding skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to improving performance.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Self-motivated, driven, and capable of taking ownership of responsibilities.
• Good communication and reporting skills.

Desirable Skills but not essential

Experience with robotic handling systems and automation.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.

Mechanical or engineering qualifications.

Experience within automotive, packaging, technical, consumer goods, or medical moulding environments.

Extensive years of experience are not essential; however, you must be capable of setting machines, optimising processes, maintaining quality standards, and supporting production performance from the outset.
