Installation & Commissioning GIS Engineer Location: Hybrid, Ireland Industry: HV Substation Equipment Scope of Work: A key role in a growing team that will be responsible for the safe installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation of High Voltage Circuit Breakers & Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems on transmission and distribution projects across Ireland. Turner Lovell is recruiting a GIS Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a global leader in sustainable energy and power grid technologies in Ireland, offering a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join the leader in their specialism You will join the existing team in delivering installation, commissioning, maintenance & repair services to Industrial & Utility customers throughout Ireland & Northern Ireland. Your key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up activities leading to project completion.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering all aspects of pre-commissioning and start-up phases through to handover.
  • Prepare and / or update a comprehensive commissioning manual. Develop a reporting structure and accountabilities for the commissioning team.
  • Plan and coordinate the commissioning / start up schedule and necessary work with third party providers. Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation. Correct any deficiencies found. Ensure compliance and progress reports are produced in accordance with client and legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with government agencies where required to obtain necessary approvals prior to start-up. Prepare client acceptance forms and ensure satisfactory sign-off is obtained.


The ideal profile is someone who has:

  • Electrical Substation experience on 38 / 110 / 220kV equipment.
  • Relay programming experience with a strong background in the power sector service & maintenance,
  • Experience in delivering technical reports and fault analysis. Maintain Maintenance Management System, complete all customer fault reports & commissioning documentation where required in a timely manner.
  • An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.
  • An OEM-recognised GIS certification would be great addition to CV for this role.
