Chase Taylor Recruitment Ltd
Installation Manager – Windows & Doors
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £40,000-£45,000
Job Type: Full-time
Industry: Windows, Doors & Glazing / Domestic Installation
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Installation Manager to oversee the successful delivery of window and door installation projects across domestic properties. This is a hands-on operational role where you will be responsible for managing installation teams, coordinating schedules and ensuring every project is delivered to a high standard from initial installation through to completion.
You will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive a professional installation experience. The role involves working across a range of residential properties, including houses, flats, apartments and extensions, often within occupied homes where customer care, cleanliness and professionalism are just as important as technical installation quality.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the windows and doors industry, with experience managing installation teams and dealing with the practical challenges that can arise when installing products into existing domestic properties.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for planning and managing daily installation activity, ensuring the correct teams, products and materials are available and that installations are completed within agreed timescales.
A major part of the role will involve coordinating installers and subcontractors, monitoring productivity and workmanship, and dealing with any issues that arise on site. You will also carry out installation inspections and site visits where required, ensuring work is completed correctly and identifying any remedial or snagging requirements.
You will work closely with Surveying, Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Logistics to ensure projects move smoothly from survey through to installation and final completion.
The role will also involve:
-
Managing installation teams and subcontractors across multiple domestic projects.
-
Reviewing surveys, measurements and product specifications before installation.
-
Coordinating installation schedules, labour, materials and customer access.
-
Inspecting completed installations and managing snagging or remedial works.
-
Resolving technical, operational and customer-related installation issues.
-
Ensuring installers maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and professionalism.
-
Managing customer expectations and handling installation-related complaints.
-
Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed when working within customers' homes.
-
Monitoring installation performance, quality, rework and productivity.
-
Supporting the continuous improvement of installation processes and team performance.
Working Within Domestic Properties
This role is particularly suited to someone who understands the challenges of working within customers' homes.
Installations will often take place within occupied properties, meaning installers must work respectfully around customers, furniture, flooring and existing finishes. The Installation Manager will be responsible for ensuring teams arrive prepared, protect the customer's property, maintain a clean and safe working environment and leave the property secure and presentable once the installation is complete.
You will also need to be comfortable dealing with unexpected issues that can arise within older or existing properties, such as difficult access, variations in existing openings, structural considerations, incorrect measurements or unforeseen installation requirements. The ability to make sensible decisions quickly and communicate these issues effectively will be essential.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with previous experience in an Installation Manager, Installation Supervisor, Contracts Manager or Senior Installer position within the windows, doors, glazing or wider home improvement industry.
You should have a strong practical understanding of domestic window and door installation, together with the ability to manage people, schedules and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will be:
-
Experienced within the windows, doors, glazing or home improvement sector.
-
Confident managing installation teams and subcontractors.
-
Knowledgeable about domestic installation processes and standards.
-
Organised and capable of managing multiple installations simultaneously.
-
Strong when dealing with customers and resolving issues professionally.
-
Comfortable carrying out site visits and quality inspections.
-
Able to identify installation problems and find practical solutions.
-
Health & safety conscious with a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
What We Offer
