Installation Technician – Eccles
Location: Eccles, Greater Manchester
Salary: £30,000 basic plus overtime
Typical earnings: £45,000–£50,000 per annum
Hours: 45-hour basic working week, with regular overtime
Travel: Working away from home Monday to Friday every week
Weekend requirement: Two weekends per month
We are recruiting Installation Technicians for a specialist technical installation and logistics business.
Although based from Eccles, this is not a traditional site-based role. You will work away from home from Monday to Friday every week and may be deployed to customer locations anywhere across the UK, with occasional European travel.
The position involves delivering, offloading, positioning, installing and cabling specialist medical and technical systems. When not completing cabling work, you will support the wider team with equipment deliveries, manual handling and installation activities.
Key responsibilities
- Installing and cabling specialist equipment and systems
- Delivering and positioning high-value customer equipment
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Supporting the safe movement of heavy and sensitive equipment
- Completing shared driving duties
- Working closely with colleagues on customer sites
- Completing delivery documentation, timesheets and associated paperwork
- Maintaining a professional and helpful approach with customers
- Supporting additional installation and logistics duties when required
Requirements
- A full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points
- Applicants must be aged 21 or over due to driving and insurance requirements
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Good computer literacy
- A practical, hands-on approach
- A willingness to learn specialist installation skills
- Exceptional flexibility regarding working hours and locations
- Comfortable staying away from home Monday to Friday every week
- Available to work two weekends each month
- Mechanical, electrical, transport or installation experience would be beneficial, although applications from other practical backgrounds will be considered
Pay and working-away arrangements
- £30,000 basic salary
- Weekday overtime paid at 1.25 times the standard rate
- Saturday overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate
- Sunday overtime paid at 1.75 times the standard rate
- Typical annual earnings of approximately £45,000–£50,000 with overtime
- Hotel accommodation provided when working away, normally in a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn
- £39.90 daily working-away allowance, with no receipts required
