Interim Chief Accountant in South West

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join this council as their interim Chief Accountant. Reporting into the Assistant Finance Director your role will be responsible for the provision of accurate, effective and efficient financial accounting records, and the resultant production of the council's Statement of Accounts, and relevant government returns.

In this role you will also be the technical lead for the central finance function and you will coordinate the production of accounts, treasury management, banking, VAT & Tax, Insurance and the Chart of Accounts as well as areas of technical financial accounting such as Asset Accounting and the Collection Fund as well as lead on closedown and year end.

As the Chief Accountant you will also be responsible for the provision of advice on financial accounting regulation, the lead advisor for statutory accounting and interpretation of regulation and responsible for ensuring the council is represented on all aspects of government consultation in this area.

This is an interim role, with an immediate start, and to be considered for the position you will need to be an experienced and fully qualified accountant with a number of years experience in local government finance.

Day rate is £600-650 and some office presence is required.
