My client is looking for an experienced and proactive Interim Engineering Manager to take full responsibility for their engineering and maintenance function at their North London site. This is a key leadership role where you'll drive plant reliability, maximise equipment uptime, lead maintenance strategy, and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance across the site on an initial 3 month contract.

Description
- Lead and develop the engineering department, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability.
- Manage all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance activities.
- Monitor machinery performance and implement solutions to minimise downtime.
- Work closely with Production teams to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal operational disruption.
- Lead daily, weekly, and monthly engineering inspections and maintenance programmes.
- Manage engineering spares, inventory, and supplier relationships.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and performance reviews of plant and equipment.
- Support site improvement projects and future capital investment initiatives.
- Manage external contractors and audit workmanship standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, safe systems of work, COSHH requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct and support risk assessments, audits, and environmental compliance activities.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop engineering team members.
- Manage engineering budgets and secure competitive quotations for required works and services.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and engineering best practice throughout the site
Profile
You will be an experienced Engineering/Maintenance Manager, ideally from a manufacturing background along with:
- Recognised Engineering qualification (HNC or above)
- Strong knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance systems
- Experience managing engineering teams and developing technical talent.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and COSHH requirements.
- Experience working with production and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management and contractor management experience.
- Budget management and cost-control capability.
- A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Job Offer
- Daily rate of up to £600
- Temporary role within the North London area.
