Interim Finance Business Partner - Children's Services

My local government client is looking for an experienced and qualified finance interim with expertise in Children's finance to focus on the following challenges:
- Provide high-quality financial advice and challenge to Children's Services leadership teams.
- Lead on budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting for Children's Services budgets.
- Support the delivery of savings programmes and transformation initiatives.
- Analyse and report on financial pressures, including placements, social care demand, and SEND-related expenditure.
- Prepare financial information for senior leadership, Cabinet reports, committees, and statutory returns.
- Partner with operational managers to improve financial management and budget accountability.
- Support the Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), budget setting process, and year-end accounts activities.
- Develop financial models and scenario planning to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with local authority financial regulations and relevant legislation.
The role will be working as part of a high performing team and will add additional expertise around the key areas. The role is paying £750 a day and is likely to be for six months initially but there may be scope to extend.
The successful candidate will have experience in schools funding from a local authority perspective and a history of resolving issues like those described above. They will also have experience of working with senior stakeholders on complex issues and providing clear and simple recommendations while working independently.
The role is hybrid but some office attendance will be required.
