Interim Financial Accounting Lead in North Yorkshire

Axon Moore are supporting a large international manufacturing business with the appointment of an Interim Financial Accounting Lead, based in North Yorkshire.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end accounting activities for the UK entity, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting whilst maintaining compliance with UK statutory, tax and regulatory requirements. This is a highly visible role within an international organisation and will work closely with Group Finance, external advisors and a wide range of internal stakeholders.
The key roles and responsibilities for this person will include:
- Ownership of the UK entity's end-to-end accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Coordinating the monthly and half-yearly financial close process in line with Group reporting deadlines
- Ensuring accounting activities comply with UK GAAP, IFRS and Group accounting standards
- Acting as the UK subject matter expert for VAT compliance, including accurate VAT accounting and timely submission of VAT returns
- Managing relationships with HMRC, external auditors, tax advisors and other regulatory bodies
- Coordinating statutory audits and ensuring the timely preparation of statutory financial statements
- Ensuring compliance with Group Internal Control standards, identifying financial and compliance risks and implementing appropriate controls
- Supporting both internal and external audit programmes
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider international Group to ensure consistent and effective financial processes
- Qualified, accounting professional
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with practical experience in statutory financial reporting
- Experience coordinating statutory audits and working with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory bodies
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across an international organisation
