We are recruiting an experienced Interim Health and Safety Consultant to support an established international manufacturing business while it completes the recruitment of a permanent Head of Health and Safety.

Further information about the organisation will only be shared with suitable candidates during the recruitment process.

The role will be based near Iver and will provide senior-level health and safety leadership across a complex manufacturing and warehousing operation. The successful consultant will be expected to take ownership of the function during the interim period, maintain momentum and provide stability until the permanent appointment is made.

The role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking day-to-day ownership of the health and safety function.
  • Providing senior-level advice and leadership across the business.
  • Conducting a gap analysis of current health and safety arrangements.
  • Reviewing policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Supporting continued legal compliance.
  • Identifying gaps in training, competence and occupational health provision.
  • Helping shape and progress the health and safety strategy.
  • Strengthening ownership and accountability across operational teams.
  • Coaching and supporting the existing health and safety resource.
  • Supporting consistent standards across UK and European locations.
  • Providing clear updates and assurance to senior leadership.

The consultant may also be invited to participate in European and global senior leadership, C-suite and board-level meetings, providing updates on performance, risks, priorities and progress.

The person

We are looking for a credible and experienced health and safety professional who can step into a senior interim position and confidently look after the function while the permanent Head of Health and Safety is recruited.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another high-risk environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Experience operating at senior management or Head of function level.
  • The ability to influence C-suite and board-level stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multiple sites.
  • The confidence to work independently and take ownership.
  • A practical and commercially aware approach.
  • Experience reviewing and improving health and safety management systems.
  • Environmental knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a visible impact within an international organisation and provide leadership during an important period of transition.

Due to the confidential nature of the assignment, full details will be discussed directly with shortlisted candidates.
