Interim Health and Safety Manager - Mansfield with regular site travel
Rate: £450 / day (Outside IR35)
Duration: 3 months with potential to extend
Open to 3-5 days per week

We are supporting a growing, multi-site waste and recycling business to appoint an Interim Health and Safety Manager. This is a practical, operational role focused on maintaining standards, supporting site teams, and ensuring compliance across approximately eight sites, with further growth through organic expansion and acquisitions. Reporting into senior leadership, you will provide visible H&S leadership across the business and ensure core H&S activity is delivered consistently during this interim period.

Based from Mansfield, with regular nationwide travel, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, driving actions through site teams, and keeping a consistent approach to Health and Safety across multiple locations.

The client is open to 3-5 days per week of support.

Responsibilities of the Interim Health and Safety Manager will include:

• Providing day-to-day H&S leadership across multiple sites, supporting operational teams and maintaining a strong safety culture
• Ensuring compliance activity is delivered consistently, including inspections, audits, reporting, close-out of actions and general H&S checks
• Overseeing incident reporting and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and lessons learned are embedded
• Maintaining and improving H&S systems, policies and documentation, ensuring ongoing alignment with UK legislation and best practice

The ideal Interim Health and Safety Manager will have:

• Strong operational Health and Safety leadership experience within a waste, recycling, manufacturing, industrial or other high-risk environment
• Good working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, risk management and safety management systems
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health and Safety qualification
• A practical, visible and collaborative style, comfortable travelling nationally and working closely with site teams
