Brava Education is working with a mainstream primary school in Wigan, who need an experienced Interim SENDCo to lead SEND and inclusion provision through to the end of the academic year.
The role
This is a hands-on SEND and inclusion leadership role, leading SEND and EAL provision, EHCPs, statutory processes, access arrangements, pupil progress and interventions.
You will line manage the TA and HLTA team, work closely with families, the LA and external agencies, and take responsibility for SEND-related funding. The role also includes Deputy DSL responsibilities, including support for looked-after children. There is a teaching commitment within the role, with the exact percentage still to be confirmed.
About you
- QTS with at least four years’ primary teaching experience.
- Strong SEND leadership experience within a primary setting.
- Experience across the primary age range, ideally including EYFS.
- Confident with EHCPs, statutory processes, access arrangements and SEND/EAL provision.
- Strong data, pupil progress and intervention experience.
- Experience leading and line managing support staff.
- Confident working with families, the LA and external agencies.
- Enhanced DBS on the Child Workforce.
- NASENCO is desirable; for this interim role, strong practical SEND experience will be prioritised.
- Deputy DSL experience or training is desirable.
Terms
The role is available immediately / ASAP through to the end of August 2027, providing full academic-year cover. Five days a week on site is required, with no remote or hybrid element.
