Working within a collaborative commissioning environment, you will provide expert contract management, performance oversight and commercial support, ensuring commissioned services deliver high-quality, value-for-money outcomes for local populations.
The Role
Reporting to the Contract Lead, you will support the negotiation, implementation and management of a diverse portfolio of commissioned services, including high-value Acute NHS, non-NHS and voluntary sector contracts.
You will be responsible for developing effective, flexible and innovative approaches to contract management, working closely with providers and stakeholders to drive service performance, quality improvement and system-wide collaboration.
The role requires strong commercial acumen, a detailed understanding of NHS commissioning frameworks and proven experience of managing contracts within a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Contract Lead in the negotiation and management of the ICB's contract portfolio.
- Lead on the performance management and monitoring of commissioned services against contractual, financial and quality requirements.
- Manage high-value NHS Standard Contracts and commercial agreements where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with provider organisations, system partners and key stakeholders.
- Analyse performance, activity and financial information to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Ensure contractual compliance and support the resolution of contract disputes and performance issues.
- Contribute to the development of innovative commissioning and contract management solutions.
- Collaborate with NHS Trusts, neighbouring ICBs and the NHS England Regional Team to deliver shared objectives and system priorities.
- Support the implementation of commissioning strategies and service transformation programmes.
We are looking for a highly skilled contract management professional with:
- Significant experience of contract negotiation and performance management within the NHS or a comparable healthcare environment.
- Proven experience managing services under the NHS Standard Contract.
- Strong understanding of the commissioning cycle and how it applies within modern NHS commissioning arrangements.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Provider Selection Regime (PSR).
- Detailed understanding of the NHS Payment Scheme and its associated payment mechanisms.
- Experience of managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple organisations.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competitive salary of £66,000 - £77,000 per annum.
