Interim Senior Practice Account – ACA/ACCA | 3 Month Contract

£45,000 per annum pro rata | 3-month contract | Verwood, Dorset | Office-based with flexibility

This well-established, friendly Chartered Accountancy practice based in Verwood are looking for an experienced ACA/ACCA qualified Accounts Senior to join the team on an interim basis for an initial 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension, supporting the Principal and wider team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can step in quickly, work independently and provide experienced support across statutory accounts, corporation tax and client liaison.

About the role

You will work closely with the Principal, supporting an established portfolio of owner-managed businesses and helping to ensure continuity of service while the permanent recruitment process takes place.

You will have direct contact with clients and will be responsible for progressing accounts and compliance work, while the Principal retains the overall client relationship.

The role is office-based in Verwood, although we can be flexible around days and hours for the right person. This could suit someone looking for a short-term contract, a portfolio professional seeking flexibility, or an experienced practice accountant available at short notice.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a portfolio of owner-managed limited companies
• Reviewing and posting prior-year alignment journals to client bookkeeping systems
• Working with Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
• Preparing closing trial balances and instruction packs for our outsourced accounts production partner
• Reviewing outsourced draft accounts and working papers for accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102 and FRS 105
• Completing and finalising statutory accounts using Digita Accounts Production
• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations using Digita Corporation Tax
• Supporting corporation tax compliance, including standard reliefs and claims such as capital allowances
• Maintaining accurate electronic working papers
• Liaising directly with clients regarding accounts queries, sign-off and general compliance matters
• Working alongside the Principal to keep client work progressing smoothly
• Providing support and knowledge-sharing to more junior members of the team where required

About you

We are looking for an experienced practice accountant who can come into the business and make an immediate contribution.

Ideally, you will be:

• ACA or ACCA qualified, although strong finalist-level candidates may also be considered
• Experienced in UK statutory accounts production and corporation tax compliance
• Confident working with owner-managed businesses and SME clients
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients
• Able to work independently and manage your own workload
• Experienced with Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
• Ideally experienced with Digita Accounts Production and Digita Corporation Tax
• Familiar with UK GAAP, particularly FRS 102 and FRS 105
• Comfortable reviewing work produced by an outsourced accounts production team

Experience of working with an offshore or outsourced accounts production provider would be a real advantage, but it is not essential.
