Intermediate Estimator – Drylining

Hill & Hill Recruitment Ltd

Are you an experienced Estimator with a strong background in drylining and looking for the next step in your career?

A leading construction group specialising in drylining is looking for an Intermediate Estimator to join their preconstruction team, based out of their Leicester office and supporting projects across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established group and work across a diverse range of drylining projects, from smaller special works valued at £50K–£500K through to major schemes between £2M and £10M.

You will be joining an established estimating team, working alongside an Estimating Director, Senior Estimator and two Estimators. With continued growth across the business, this is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to develop their technical skills, take on greater responsibility and progress their career.

As an Intermediate Estimator, you will be expected to price drylining packages from first principles, build rates from scratch and work across projects for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, including schools and public sector schemes.

The business uses OST for take-off and measure alongside their own bespoke pricing system. You will have access to established pricing templates, but your drylining knowledge, commercial understanding and ability to problem-solve will be key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates from first principles for drylining packages
  • Build rates from scratch and develop accurate project pricing
  • Carry out detailed take-offs using On Centre software
  • Price projects for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams throughout the estimating process
  • Support the wider estimating team and work alongside junior members
  • Build strong client relationships and maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the drylining sector
  • Good understanding of drylining construction and commercial principles
  • Ability to build rates from first principles
  • Experience using take-off and estimating software; On Centre experience would be advantageous
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially minded, organised and detail-oriented
  • A proactive approach with good problem-solving skills
  • Someone looking to develop their career and take on increasing responsibility

Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing construction group that genuinely invests in its people and offers long-term career progression.

The current Estimating Director started with the business as a Trainee nine years ago, demonstrating the progression available within the group.

With multiple businesses within the wider group, there are also opportunities for internal progression, career development and movement across different areas of the business.

The role is office-based five days a week in Leicester, with some flexibility around remote working when required.
