Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

Our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with experience working directly for a subcontractor, ideally within the roofing sector, although candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds will also be considered.
Working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects across a diverse portfolio, including high-end residential developments and data centres. The role is predominantly post-contract, with regular site visits to monitor progress, build relationships, and ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the commercial management of multiple projects from award through to final account.
- Prepare and submit interim applications for payment and variations.
- Assess, price and negotiate variations and compensation events.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts where required.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow updates.
- Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Attend regular site visits across London and surrounding areas to monitor project progress and maintain strong relationships with site teams and clients.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and report findings to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations and commercial targets.
- Liaise with project managers, site managers, clients, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction sector.
- Previous experience working directly for a subcontractor preferred, but not essential.
- Roofing subcontractor experience is highly desirable but not essential; candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working on post-contract commercial activities.
- Good understanding of standard forms of contract.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
