Fancy taking ownership of recruitment for one of the UK's largest photography businesses

H Tempest Ltd is the UK's leading school photography company.

We're a long-established, family-owned business, employing hundreds of photographers across the country and photographing millions of children, graduates and passengers every year.

We're now looking for an enthusiastic Internal Recruiter to join our team at our head office in Cornwall and take responsibility for recruiting photographers across our UK field operation.

This is a great opportunity for someone with some recruitment experience who's ready to take the next step. You'll have plenty of support, but you'll also have the freedom to develop new ideas, explore different recruitment channels and help us shape how we attract great people into the business.

Outside of our busy recruitment periods, you will provide additional support as needed to our Field Operations Manager.

The Internal Recruiter Role:

Working closely with our Field Operations Manager and regional field teams, you'll manage the recruitment process from an approved vacancy through to appointment.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Creating and advertising vacancies across a range of recruitment channels
  • Reviewing applications and identifying the strongest candidates
  • Conducting first-stage interviews
  • Coordinating and participating in second interviews with our field managers
  • Managing candidate communication throughout the recruitment process
  • Preparing offers and progressing successful candidates into our onboarding process
  • Building and maintaining a pipeline of potential photographers across the UK
  • Finding, testing and developing new ways of reaching great candidates
  • Building relationships with colleges, universities, photography networks and other potential sources of talent
  • Working closely with our Graduation team to identify photographers who could work across different parts of the Tempest business
  • Monitoring recruitment activity and helping us understand which channels and approaches deliver the best results

This isn't a recruitment agency role. There are no clients to win and no cold-calling businesses to generate fees.

Instead, you'll be able to concentrate on finding great people for our own business and developing a recruitment approach that works.

Who we're looking for

You don't need years and years of recruitment experience. We're more interested in finding someone bright, organised and confident who enjoys dealing with people and is comfortable taking ownership of things.

Ideally, you'll have around 1–2 years' experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or a similar people-focused role and be comfortable interviewing candidates and making recommendations to managers.

You'll need to be a good communicator, highly organised and happy managing a number of vacancies at the same time.

You'll also need a bit of initiative. We don't want someone who simply posts an advert and waits for applications to arrive.

We'd love you to bring ideas about where and how we can find the photographers of the future.

Experience recruiting remote, field-based or high-volume roles would be useful, but certainly isn't essential.

Why Tempest

We're proud to be a successful British business that has remained family-owned throughout its history.

From our headquarters in Cornwall, we support a national and increasingly international photography operation. Despite our size, we're still a business where people know each other, ideas can be put into practice, and you can make a genuine difference to how things are done.

You'll be joining us at an interesting time as we reshape and invest in our field operation, and recruitment is a really important part of making that successful.

And, of course, there's the location. Our headquarters are just outside St Ives, so if the idea of building your career in Cornwall rather than commuting into a city every day appeals, we can certainly help with that.

We offer a competitive salary of £28,000–£32,000 depending on experience plus standard benefits.

If you're looking for an internal recruitment role where you can take real ownership, develop your skills and help shape the way a large national business finds its people, we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading our advert.  If you are excited about the role we’d love to hear from you so click on “APPLY” today and send us a copy of your CV.

We can’t wait to see it!  Deadline for applications 12th October.
