Interoperability Product Manager

Rebel Recruitment Limited

Role: Interoperability Product Manager Location:  Nottingham

Working Arrangement: Remote with client travel

Salary: Up to £80k

Are you an experienced Product Manager or Product Owner with a background in Defence, Government or National Security?

Would you like the opportunity to shape the strategy, development and delivery of an interoperability portfolio, working directly with customers, technical specialists and senior stakeholders?

This is a role where you’ll have genuine ownership and influence. You’ll help shape the direction of an interoperability portfolio spanning software, products, services and managed services, while working closely with customers and engineering teams to turn complex requirements into deliverable solutions.

The opportunity

As Interoperability Product Owner / Product Manager, you’ll sit at the heart of the product lifecycle, bringing together customer needs, commercial priorities, technical considerations and strategic objectives.

You’ll work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand what they need, why they need it and when they need it. From there, you’ll translate high-level requirements into clear product goals, detailed requirements and prioritised backlogs that solution architects and engineering teams can act upon.

You’ll work closely with Technical Architects and Delivery Managers across multiple programmes, helping teams understand priorities, making sure progress is visible and ensuring development remains aligned with customer expectations, delivery plans and wider portfolio objectives.

You’ll also take ownership of product releases from planning through to completion. This will include defining release requirements, coordinating documentation and implementation, supporting deployment and formally accepting completed releases.

Your impact

A major part of the role will be shaping the future of the interoperability portfolio.

You’ll help refine the wider interoperability strategy, manage product and service lifecycles, develop value propositions and ensure the portfolio continues to evolve in response to customer needs and changes in the market.

You’ll have regular interaction with customers, presenting products and services, explaining their benefits and use cases, gathering feedback and using that insight to influence the product roadmap and backlog.

You’ll also work closely with Marketing to bring products and capabilities to market, contributing to compelling product collateral, campaigns, use cases and communications. Alongside this, you’ll monitor competitors, technologies, partners and suppliers to identify market developments and opportunities that could influence future product direction.

The role also gives you the opportunity to influence commercial and delivery decisions by facilitating estimates with engineering and ensuring that technical effort, budgets and timescales are understood when prioritising the backlog.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager or Product Owner who understands the demands of working in Defence, Government or National Security environments.

Experience in interoperability, systems integration or secure information exchange would be highly beneficial, but we’re also interested in people who have worked with complex technical products and can demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate sophisticated technology environments.

You’ll bring a strong combination of technical understanding, commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills. You’ll be equally comfortable discussing requirements with a Technical Architect, challenging priorities with an engineering team, presenting a product proposition to a customer or providing an update to senior leadership.

You’ll be confident, credible and collaborative, with the ability to build strong relationships across technical, commercial and customer-facing teams.

Most importantly, you’ll enjoy taking ownership of complex problems, bringing clarity to competing requirements and turning customer needs into products and services that deliver genuine value.

What success looks like

Success in this role will mean seeing the interoperability portfolio develop and grow, with products and services delivered effectively against customer and strategic requirements.

You’ll build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, create clarity around product priorities and help ensure that the roadmap reflects both market opportunity and customer need.

If you’re looking for a Product Manager role where you can combine strategy, technology, customer engagement and delivery — and have a genuine influence on the direction of an important interoperability portfolio — this could be an excellent opportunity to make your mark.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
