Inventory Planner

We're supporting a well-established business in the search for an Inventory Planner to join its Supply Chain team. This is a varied role that will suit someone who enjoys working with data, planning stock requirements and collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure products are available when needed.
You'll play a key role in balancing customer demand with inventory levels, helping to maintain excellent service while keeping stock investment under control.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor inventory levels against forecasts and demand trends.
- Plan and maintain appropriate stock levels to support customer requirements.
- Raise purchase orders and production orders to replenish inventory.
- Work closely with external manufacturing partners and suppliers to ensure materials and finished goods are delivered on time.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance, costs and availability.
- Carry out regular inventory reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Ensure product, costing and inventory information within the ERP system remains accurate.
- Maintain product master data, including packaging and product information.
- Work alongside Sales and Marketing teams to understand upcoming product launches and promotional activity, ensuring these are reflected within inventory plans.
- Monitor sales forecasts and identify any potential supply risks.
- Support continuous improvement across supply chain planning processes.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience in inventory planning, supply planning, stock control or a similar supply chain role.
You'll also have:
- Experience working within a manufacturing, distribution or supply chain environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with ERP systems.
- Experience raising purchase orders and coordinating with suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across different teams.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Experience of ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP or Oracle would be advantageous, although not essential.
