We are seeking a highly disciplined, detail-obsessed, and commercially astute IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of critical technology initiatives under a major UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract. This role demands an uncompromising approach to delivery governance combined with sharp commercial instincts.

As the absolute guardian of project scope, timelines, and budgets, you will manage complex technical delivery while ensuring strict adherence to MoD frameworks and Defence Digital standards. You are someone who thrives on the minutiae of compliance, contract tracking, and technical specifications, ensuring that perfection aligns seamlessly with bottom-line project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Defence Governance & Scope Control: Establish and enforce strict project baselines. Aggressively manage scope creep, ensuring all changes are rigorously evaluated for technical, financial, and security impacts.

  • Commercial & Financial Oversight: Direct project burn rates, vendor Statements of Work (SOWs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Ensure micro-level financial tracking to protect project margins and maximize return on investment (ROI).
  • Meticulous Documentation & Controls: Maintain hyper-accurate, audit-ready project plans, Risk/Issue registers (RAID logs), dependency maps, and technical requirements with zero tolerance for ambiguity.

  • Quality & Technical Assurance: Audit technical deliverables against stringent MoD acceptance criteria. Predict, isolate, and mitigate delivery risks before they threaten milestone timelines.

  • Stakeholder & Contract Management: Translate complex engineering timelines, risk profiles, and commercial metrics into razor-sharp, data-backed reports for senior defence stakeholders and executive leadership.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Project Delivery: 5+ years of experience leading complex IT infrastructure, secure software development, or enterprise systems integration projects, ideally within the UK Defence, Aerospace, or Central Government sectors.
  • Commercial Acumen: Proven track record managing multi-million-pound budgets, tracking supplier performance, and handling complex public-sector or defence-framework procurement.
  • Methodology & Frameworks: Deep practical knowledge of structured frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, or hybrid models) aligned with MoD project control processes.
  • Tools: Expert-level mastery of precision project tracking systems (e.g., MS Project, Jira).

Security Clearance & Nationality Requirements

  • Nationality: Due to the highly sensitive nature of the information, assets, and systems associated with this programme, this position is open to Sole British Nationals only. Dual citizens or individuals requiring visa sponsorship cannot be considered.
  • Vetting Status: Candidates must hold, or be entirely eligible to obtain and maintain, a high-level national security vetting status Developed Vetting [DV]) with no restrictive foreign connections
