IT Support Engineer

A prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an IT Support Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role is based at their Head Office in Buckinghamshire and will involve providing first- and second-line technical support to ensure the smooth operation of IT services within the organisation.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first- and second-line support for incidents and service requests via the IT service management system.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across desktop and laptop environments.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Teams and Exchange Online mailboxes.
  • Build, configure, and deploy Windows desktop devices in line with company standards.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning and equipment setup.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of incidents, solutions, and system configurations.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, automation opportunities, and knowledge base development.
  • Support IT projects and infrastructure changes as required.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in IT support roles, providing both 1st and 2nd line support.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems (Windows 11), including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience administering and supporting Windows Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams and Exchange Online.
  • Understanding of endpoint management principles (e.g., Intune, device configuration, patching).
  • Good understanding of basic networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN connectivity).
  • Familiarity with IT service management tools and incident handling processes.
  • Ability to follow structured troubleshooting methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
