Java Developer | AWS Microservices I SC Cleared in Newcastle upon Tyne

£280-£500 per day (Inside IR35/Umbrella)
Contract: 14 months
Locations: London, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow (2-3 days on site p/w)
Security Clearance: Existing SC or CTC preferred. SC eligibility required.
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile cloud transformation programme, working within a Scrum team responsible for developing and supporting services across a large-scale AWS-hosted microservices architecture.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-level systems, contributing across the full software development lifecycle while collaborating with highly skilled engineers in a modern cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Java-based microservices
- Write clean, scalable and well-tested code
- Perform unit testing and support integration testing activities
- Conduct and approve peer code reviews (PR reviews)
- Manage code promotion through multiple environments into production
- Support CI/CD best practices and release processes
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects and Scrum team members
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Java 8+
- Experience building cloud-based Microservices
- Strong knowledge of:
- Spring Boot
- Maven
- Guice
- JUnit
- PostgreSQL
- Experience using Git-based source control tools such as Bitbucket/Git
- Agile/Scrum delivery experience
Desirable Skills
- AWS cloud services
- Kubernetes
- Helm
- Jenkins
- CI/CD pipelines and build automation
- Experience supporting applications through to production environments
