Location: West Thurrock
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Holiday: 25 days annual leave + public bank holidays
Pin Point Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Jetty Assistant Manager to join a busy industrial site in West Thurrock.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational professional with strong leadership and safety awareness to take responsibility for the planning and safe operation of the jetty, including the coordination of operators, ships and trucks.
Reporting to the Jetty Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the jetty operates safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures and regulatory standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and supporting Jetty Operators, ensuring safe working practices are maintained.
- Allocating and issuing work to Jetty Operators.
- Planning and scheduling ships, trucks and labour.
- Coordinating activities effectively with other site personnel.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the company's management systems and procedures.
- Providing day-to-day supervision to Jetty Operators and Maintenance Technicians.
- Maintaining an efficient and well-organised operation.
- Providing hands-on support during the discharge of bulk dry and liquid cargoes when required.
- Assisting the Jetty Manager with Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) responsibilities.
- Working towards becoming a Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO).
- Ensuring company ISO standards and health & safety requirements are consistently followed.
- Supporting the training and development of staff.
- Working closely with contractors and site personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Training to issue work permits to company staff and contractors where required.
- Positively representing the company when dealing with customers and suppliers.
About You
- Experienced in an operational or supervisory role within an industrial, manufacturing, chemical, logistics in a port environment.
- Confident managing and coordinating teams.
- Strong on health, safety and compliance.
- Able to plan and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on operational environment.
- A confident communicator who can work effectively with colleagues, contractors, customers and suppliers.
- Organised, reliable and able to make decisions in a busy working environment.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and operational performance.
