An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Job Evaluation Analyst to join a local authority in the East Midlands on an interim basis for an initial 6-month assignment.

Working within the HR, Workforce and Organisational Development function, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, consistent and transparent job evaluation service across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an important programme of work, ensuring roles are assessed fairly and in line with recognised job evaluation methodologies.



The Role

As Job Evaluation Analyst, you will be responsible for undertaking and delivering job evaluation activity across a broad range of roles. You will analyse job descriptions, job questionnaire responses and supporting evidence to determine evaluation and appeal outcomes, applying agreed methodologies and principles consistently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking job evaluations using NJC and Hay methodologies.
  • Evaluating roles across a wide variety of service areas, including schools.
  • Supporting job evaluation appeals and moderation processes.
  • Preparing evaluation documentation and presenting findings to panels where required.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to managers, HR colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Managing a varied caseload while maintaining robust audit trails and accurate records.
  • Contributing to pay and reward projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Building strong working relationships with managers, HR teams and trade union representatives.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Practical experience of undertaking job evaluation assignments.
  • Formal training in the Hay Guide Chart and NJC Job Evaluation schemes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex information and reach evidence-based conclusions.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to explain evaluation outcomes and rationale.
  • A meticulous approach, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working within a local authority or wider public sector environment would be highly advantageous.
