The Role

We are looking for an experienced Jointer's Mate to join a small, established field team carrying out LV cable jointing, PILC cable de-looping and infrastructure works on building sites across the Midlands and beyond. This is a hands-on, all-round role for someone reliable and experienced who wants steady, long-term work with a genuine route to train up as a jointer for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting an LV jointer on live and dead LV network jointing work; working across both PILC (paper-insulated lead-covered) and modern plastic/polymeric cables, including cut-out changes; assisting with residential PILC "de-looping" projects; working on infrastructure and building-site contracts; travelling to sites across the Midlands and further, sharing the driving with the jointer; and covering a weekend on-call rota for reactive callouts. Additional daily payment made whilst on the on-call rota, plus further payments if called out.

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence
• EUSR card (electrical)
• First Aid at Work certificate
• Manual Handling certificate
• Solid, consistent experience as a jointer's mate, ideally with exposure to PILC cable
• No formal college qualifications required, though City & Guilds jointing quals are a plus
• Reliable, punctual, trustworthy and coachable, with a stable work history
• Willing and able to commit to the weekend on-call rota

Hours, Salary & Holiday

• Standard hours are 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday (travel time not paid, though there's some flexibility on finish times for jobs further afield).
• Salary is £140/day, paid PAYE directly on the company's books, working out at roughly £36,500 a year.
• Holiday is 21 days plus bank holidays
