Junior Buyer in Bolton, Greater Manchester

We are recruiting for a Junior Buyer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business, supporting daily procurement operations, supplier management and purchase order administration.

Working closely with internal departments and external suppliers, you will ensure purchasing information remains accurate, deliveries are monitored and procurement activities run efficiently across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase Order Management: Maintain accurate purchase order records within the ERP system, ensuring delivery dates, supplier information and supporting documentation remain up to date and compliant with internal procedures.
• Supplier Communication & Expediting: Liaise with suppliers to obtain order acknowledgements, confirm delivery schedules, chase outstanding orders and proactively identify potential delays that could impact production.
• Procurement Reporting & Data Analysis: Support the preparation of supplier On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) reports, monitor procurement KPIs and maintain accurate data to help identify supplier performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Cross-Departmental Coordination: Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Goods-In and Finance to resolve purchasing queries, address delivery discrepancies and maintain effective communication across the business.
• Buying Support & Development: Provide operational support and cover for Buyers during periods of absence, develop knowledge of key suppliers and purchasing processes, and gradually take ownership of additional buying responsibilities as experience develops.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in supply chain, procurement, planning or relevant administrative role.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong communication skills.

Location: Bolton
Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week - Hybrid (Fridays from Home).
Salary: £25k - £27k
