We are currently recruiting for a Junior Buyer to join a busy manufacturing business based in Lytham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within purchasing and procurement, working closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure materials and components are available when required.

As Junior Buyer, you will play an important role within the manufacturing operation, supporting the company's purchasing strategy, managing purchase orders and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

The Role

Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality and Finance teams, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient supply of materials and components required for production.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing purchase orders in line with company purchasing procedures

  • Working closely with the Production Planner to understand the 12-week production plan

  • Placing orders in advance to ensure raw materials and components arrive on time

  • Checking purchase orders are correctly authorised and maintaining accurate purchasing records

  • Raising purchase orders for both production and non-stock items

  • Developing and maintaining an accurate supplier database

  • Keeping supplier information up to date, including contact details, payment terms, minimum order quantities (MOQs) and lead times

  • Working with key suppliers to develop effective just-in-time purchasing, helping to prevent both stock shortages and unnecessary stockholding

  • Attending supplier meetings and supporting discussions around supplier terms and conditions

  • Communicating with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries and purchasing requirements

  • Working collaboratively with departments across the business to maintain a smooth flow of goods

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with both suppliers and colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience using Sage Line 200 or a similar system

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving

  • The ability to manage priorities within a busy manufacturing environment

degree in Business, Management or a related subject would be advantageous but is not essential.

You will be a quick learner, self-motivated, flexible and hardworking, with an enthusiastic approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work towards CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualifications, with support provided.
