Junior Credit Controller – Commercial Property

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and organised Junior Credit Controller to join our Commercial Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in credit control, accounts or property management.

You will support the Credit Control team with the collection of rent, service charges, utilities and other outstanding balances across a portfolio of commercial properties. Full training will be provided, although previous experience in credit control, accounts or a property-related environment would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection of outstanding rent, service charges, utilities and other tenant charges.
  • Contact tenants by telephone and email regarding overdue payments and agree appropriate payment arrangements where required.
  • Issue invoices, statements, reminders and other credit control correspondence.
  • Monitor tenant accounts and identify overdue balances at an early stage.
  • Maintain accurate records of conversations, payments and agreed payment arrangements.
  • Allocate and reconcile payments received against tenant accounts.
  • Assist with investigating and resolving account queries and payment discrepancies.
  • Liaise with tenants, property managers, accounts staff and other internal departments.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial and tenancy information on the company's property management and accounting systems.
  • Escalate significant or long-standing debts to the Senior Credit Controller or Credit Manager.
  • Support the wider accounts team with general administrative and credit control duties.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an office, accounts, administration or customer service environment is desirable but not essential.
  • An interest in credit control, finance or commercial property.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident speaking to customers and tenants by telephone.
  • Strong attention to detail and good numerical ability.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
  • Professional, persistent and confident approach when dealing with outstanding debts.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
