Are you ready to turn your engineering knowledge into a career that makes a genuine difference? If you're passionate about renewable energy and want to build specialist expertise in commercial solar PV and battery storage, this is an opportunity to join an ambitious, fast-growing business where your development is just as important as the projects you help deliver.
Working alongside experienced engineers, designers and project professionals, you'll receive hands-on training while contributing to the design of commercial solar PV installations ranging from 50kW to 4MW. From day one, you'll be supported to develop the technical skills and industry knowledge needed to become a trusted Design Engineer in one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors.
Why this role
This is more than a graduate engineering position. It's an opportunity to build a long-term career in renewable energy, working on commercial solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects that help businesses reduce carbon emissions and improve energy resilience. As your experience grows, you'll take increasing ownership of technical designs from initial concept through to installation and project completion.
What you'll do
You'll support the production of technical drawings, electrical schematics, single line diagrams, Bills of Materials and energy yield calculations while assisting with the design of commercial solar PV and battery storage systems. Working closely with project managers, installation teams, suppliers and clients, you'll help ensure every project is technically accurate, compliant with UK industry standards and delivered to the highest quality. You'll also gain valuable experience with DNO applications, project documentation and technical handover packs as your responsibilities continue to grow.
About you
You'll have a degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related discipline, together with experience using CAD or technical design software. Strong IT skills, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning are essential. Knowledge of AutoCAD, PVSol, Helioscope, electrical engineering principles or UK standards such as BS7671, G99 or G100 would be advantageous, but full training and ongoing support will be provided for the right individual.
Rewards & growth
You'll receive a competitive salary of £27,000–£30,000 alongside holiday entitlement, pension and comprehensive training designed to accelerate your career. Most importantly, you'll join an ambitious organisation committed to investing in its people, offering genuine progression opportunities within the rapidly expanding renewable energy industry.
