Junior Electrical Contract Manager

Ravensearch

The Opportunity

Our client, a national M&E contractor based in Warrington, is looking for someone ready to make the move from site-based electrical work into contract management. This is not a role for someone already established as a Contracts Manager. It is for a qualified electrician, supervisor, or someone with early design or estimating experience who wants a genuine, supported route into management and is willing to put the time in to get there.

You will work alongside experienced Contracts Managers, gradually taking on greater responsibility as your confidence and capability grow. The expectation is a structured development period of around two years before you are operating as a Contracts Manager in your own right, with proper mentoring and support throughout rather than being left to work it out alone.

This is a permanent role, £40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience, plus car allowance and a full benefits package. It is genuinely one of the clearer paths from the tools into management that we see come through.

About the Business

Our client is a national M&E building services contractor with roots going back to the late 1950s and offices across England, Scotland and Ireland. Their Warrington base is their England operation, working across healthcare, education, commercial and a range of more specialist sectors.

They have a strong track record of developing people internally, and this role reflects that. Rather than recruiting only experienced Contracts Managers from elsewhere in the industry, they are actively investing in bringing technically capable people up through the business, on the understanding that someone who has worked on the tools brings a level of practical credibility that is hard to replicate.

Accreditations include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, NICEIC, BESA, ECA and Constructionline, alongside a robust approach to health and safety throughout their operations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the delivery of electrical contracts alongside experienced Contracts Managers, with responsibility increasing as you progress

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of site teams and subcontractors

  • Building confidence liaising directly with clients, consultants and main contractors

  • Supporting programme management, helping to identify and resolve issues as they arise on site

  • Assisting with procurement and ensuring materials and resources are in place to keep projects on track

  • Learning to manage compliance, quality and health and safety standards across live projects

  • Supporting commissioning, handover and close-out activity, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle

  • Working towards taking full ownership of your own contracts as your experience and confidence develop

What We're Looking For

  • JIB Gold Card or an equivalent recognised electrical qualification

  • 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualified

  • Testing and inspection qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent) is preferred though not essential

  • Confidence communicating with clients and managers, or a genuine willingness to develop this

  • A clear, genuine interest in progressing into contract management, with the patience to develop into the role over time

  • Experience in electrical supervision, design or estimating is welcomed, as is direct experience already working in an office-based or coordination capacity

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Car allowance and claimable expenses

  • Full company benefits package
