Junior Fire & Security Engineer Job Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Junior Fire & Security Engineer to join an established technical team, covering Rotherham and the surrounding South Yorkshire area. The role will primarily focus on servicing, maintenance, fault finding and small installation works across a range of fire and security systems.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has recently completed a Level 3 NVQ/apprenticeship, or an engineer with around 12 months' industry experience, looking to develop their skills across CCTV, access control, fire alarms, intruder and door entry systems.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have some hands-on experience within the fire and security industry, although recently qualified apprentices will also be considered. We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, technically minded and wants to build a long-term career within the industry.

You'll need to be customer-focused, professional and comfortable working on client sites, with a full UK driving licence and ideally based within a commutable distance of Rotherham.

Junior Fire & Security Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain fire and security systems.
  • Carry out small works and installation projects.
  • Diagnose faults and complete remedial works.
  • Complete accurate service reports and system documentation.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, approximately 1 week in 5.

Junior Fire & Security Engineer Requirements

  • Knowledge of at least some of the following: CCTV, access control, fire alarms, intruder or door entry.
  • Basic fault-finding and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic security systems.
  • Strong willingness to learn and progress within the industry.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach to customers.
