Junior Mechanical Installation Engineer

Our client is a growing specialist engineering business that designs, installs and maintains extraction and ventilation systems for schools, colleges, universities and industrial customers across Scotland.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Junior Mechanical Installation Engineer to join their installation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical mechanical background who enjoys hands-on work. Product and installation training will be provided, so previous experience with extraction or ventilation systems is not essential.
The Role
You will be responsible for the installation of extraction and ventilation systems at customer sites throughout the Central Belt of Scotland. As your experience grows, you'll take responsibility for installing, assembling and commissioning systems independently.
Typical duties include:
- Installing extraction and ventilation systems
- Mechanical assembly and installation of ducting and associated equipment
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of workshop machinery where required
- Using hand and power tools to complete installations to a high standard
- Working safely in accordance with company procedures and site requirements
- Completing basic installation paperwork
- Maintaining company tools, vehicle and equipment
- Representing the business professionally whilst on customer sites
About You
We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
You may currently work in areas such as:
- Stairlift installation or servicing
- Medical device installation
- Mobility equipment
- HVAC or ventilation
- Mechanical assembly
- Plant or machinery installation
- Garage equipment
- Maintenance engineering
- Service engineering
- Any other practical mechanical role
You will ideally have:
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Experience using hand and power tools
- A practical approach to problem solving
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
Previous experience with extraction or LEV systems is not essential, as training will be provided.

Location
This is a field-based role covering customer sites primarily across the Central Belt of Scotland and Northern England.
Occasional working away from home (Monday to Friday) will be required, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered.
To be considered for this role, you must have the legal right to work in the UK. Our client is unable to provide visa sponsorship.
We are aiming for interviews to take place in the first week of August. Interviews will be face to face with the client (Glasgow) and this will likely be a one stage interview process.
