An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior / Graduate Project Design Engineer to join an established engineering and product development team working on prestigious architectural projects across the globe.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to develop their skills within the specialist field of architectural LED lighting. Full training will be provided for the right candidate, offering genuine career progression and the opportunity to contribute to innovative, design-led projects.
The RoleWorking as part of a collaborative project management and product development team, the successful candidate will be involved in the design, development, testing and delivery of bespoke architectural lighting solutions from concept through to installation.
The role offers exposure to every stage of the product lifecycle, working closely with production teams, suppliers, subcontractors and lighting professionals to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and development of architectural LED lighting products.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
- Support product development, testing and validation activities.
- Liaise with internal assembly teams, suppliers and subcontract manufacturers.
- Work alongside lighting designers and specifiers to deliver project requirements.
- Contribute to continuous product improvement and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support production and installation where required, including resolving technical issues.
- Maintain a structured and detail-focused approach to engineering documentation and project delivery.
Applicants should ideally have experience in one of the following areas:
- Development, production, testing and installation of LED architectural lighting;
or - Development, production and testing of professional electronic equipment.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate:
- A methodical and organised approach to design with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong visual awareness and an appreciation for high-quality product design.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering practical engineering solutions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of sustainable manufacturing and production practices.
- Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:
- Experience in the design and development of LED lighting systems.
- Knowledge of low- to medium-volume batch manufacturing.
- Understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes for plastics and metals, including rapid prototyping and finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of electronics and software used within LED lighting systems.
- Experience supporting contractors on-site and resolving installation issues.
- An interest in engineering automation, AI and emerging design technologies.
