JUNIOR PROJECTS MANAGER

IQ Glass · Direct employer

IQ Glass is looking for an ambitious and organised Junior Projects Manager to join our Small Works Division, supporting the successful delivery of residential architectural glazing projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–3 years' construction experience who is looking to develop their project management career within a specialist and highly respected glazing business.

Our Small Works Division delivers projects that are typically shorter in duration and lower in value than our major projects, providing an ideal environment for developing practical project management experience while working alongside experienced Senior Project Managers.

You will be involved throughout the project life-cycle – from order through to design coordination, procurement, manufacture, delivery, installation and final completion.

You will initially work closely with our Senior Project Managers and Project Coordinators, progressively taking greater responsibility for your own projects as your knowledge, confidence and experience develop.

This role is designed as a genuine development pathway into project management.

As your experience develops, you will be expected to take increasing ownership of projects, clients, programmes, costs and site coordination, with the long-term opportunity to progress into a Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

You will be responsible for the ownership and delivery of multiple small glazing projects from order through to completion. You will prepare, maintain and monitor project programmes and key dates.

You will coordinate activities across design, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and installation whilst maintaining accurate project information and records within the company CRM system.

Client & Contractor Communication:

You will need to develop professional working relationships with clients, contractors, architects and site teams and act as a point of contact for allocated projects, with appropriate support from Senior Project Managers.

You will provide clients and contractors with clear and timely communication for project updates, meeting follow ups and expectations around programme, deliveries and installation.

Commercial & Financial Management:

You will need to develop an understanding of project budgets, margins and commercial performance, costs and profitability, monitoring all project costs against agreed budgets.

You will be responsible for raising and managing purchase orders and invoicing in accordance with company procedures. This includes identifying and managing the possibilities for variations and additional works.

Site & Installation Management:

You will assist with the planning and coordination of glazing installations and deliveries including reviews of site access, storage, lifting and installation requirements.

You will be required to attend site visits to develop practical knowledge of glazing installation and site management.

You will liaise with installation teams, contractors and site managers to identify potential site issues and escalate them promptly.

Technical & Quality:

You will review project drawings, specifications and installation details, liaising with the design team to clarify technical information where required and support the resolution of technical and installation-related issues.

About You

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, organised and keen to build a long-term career in project management.

You do not need extensive glazing experience. What is important is that you have a construction background, a willingness to learn and the ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

Experience

Ideally you will have 1–3 years' experience within construction, glazing, architectural or specialist construction with experience working on commercial or residential construction projects is advantageous.

We are looking for those with previous exposure to project coordination or project management wherever possible. Glazing or specialist architectural construction experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time-management skills with good attention to detail.
  • Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Confident communicating with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Reliable, professional and committed with a positive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider project team.

Qualifications & Certifications

Construction-related qualification desirable, or currently working towards one. This could include CSCS card (desirable, or willingness to obtain) and SSSTS / SMSTS (desirable, or willingness to work towards the appropriate qualification as your role develops).

Full UK driving licence required.

Remuneration Package

Salary: £32,500–£40,000 per annum

A salary review will take place following successful completion of the probationary period and achievement of agreed KPIs. The review will normally take place at approximately 6 months, or earlier where performance and progress justify an earlier review.

As you develop within the role and take on greater project responsibility, there will be opportunities for further career and salary progression.

Benefits

In addition to your salary, you will have access to a range of company benefits, including:

  • Private healthcare after 2 years' service.
  • Private pension scheme.
  • Professional training and development opportunities.
  • Regular team social events and company-wide celebrations, including summer and Christmas events.
  • Company Christmas shutdown, with 3 days deducted from your annual holiday allowance and additional days gifted by the company to provide an extended Christmas break.
  • 21 days' annual holiday, increasing by one additional day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 25 days.
  • Employee ownership scheme, providing eligibility for additional bonuses after one year of service, subject to the business achieving its agreed profit targets.

Why Join IQ Glass?

This is more than an entry-level project administration role. We are looking for someone who wants to build a career in specialist architectural glazing project management.

You will gain hands-on experience across the full project life-cycle while working alongside experienced project managers and specialist teams.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and genuinely progress within a forward looking company.

For the right person, this role provides a clear pathway towards becoming a fully autonomous Project Manager and progressing within the wider IQ Glass project management team.

If you are ambitious, organised, commercially minded and keen to develop a career within specialist construction, we would like to hear from you.
