Junior Software Tester 📍 Epsom, Surrey | 💷 £28,000 per annum | 🕘 9am–6pm, Monday–Friday
Are you curious about how software works and looking to build a career in QA? We're recruiting on behalf of an established UK software house, based in Epsom
Their flagship product is a widely-used communication and engagement platform that helps organisations manage campaigns, service updates and stakeholder communications, supporting thousands of users. Alongside this, the business is developing new products for public sector engagement — creating varied opportunities across both mature, business-critical systems and new product development.
The role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their testing career to join a supportive QA team and build genuine hands-on experience. You'll work closely with experienced QA colleagues, developers and product stakeholders to test new features, validate bug fixes, support releases and help shape testing processes.
Initially the role will focus on manual testing, test case creation, regression testing and defect reporting, with opportunities over time to develop automated testing skills using tools such as TestCafe.
Key responsibilities
- Execute manual testing against acceptance criteria, designs and requirements
- Create, maintain and run structured test cases
- Carry out exploratory testing to catch defects and usability issues
- Perform regression testing ahead of releases
- Raise clear, reproducible defect reports with supporting evidence
- Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing
- Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retros)
- Maintain accurate testing records in Jira
- Support the development of automated tests with senior QA support
What we're looking for
- Some experience in testing, QA, technical support, development or a similar environment
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and how web applications work
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise
- Confident using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Exposure to tools like TestCafe, Playwright or Selenium is a plus, but not essential
- Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing systems is advantageous
Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Relevant technical qualifications, self-study or personal projects will be viewed positively
About you
You're analytical, curious and motivated to learn new tools and techniques. You're reliable, organised, and comfortable following structured processes, but not afraid to ask questions or raise concerns. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment working alongside QA, development, product and support colleagues.
You must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
Career development
This role offers genuine long-term progression within the QA and product delivery function, with opportunities to build deeper expertise in manual testing, release assurance, automated testing, and test planning as you grow.
