A great opportunity for an ambitious Junior Systems Administrator to join a growing technology business. Working within a collaborative IT team, you'll support a broad IT infrastructure including servers, virtual environments, networks and end-user devices while gaining exposure to a wide range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the IT Manager, as a Junior Systems Administrator your responsibilities will include:
- Deploy, configure and maintain hardware, software and network infrastructure
- Administer user accounts, groups and system policies across the business
- Monitor systems, services and applications, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software and networking problems
- Manage backups, data recovery processes and IT asset records
- Support cyber security initiatives and information security compliance requirements
- Provide technical support to internal users and external customers
- Manage workstation deployments, IT equipment and staff onboarding requirements
- Support physical security systems including CCTV, access control and telephony
- Assist with infrastructure projects and occasional travel to other business locations
Essential Requirements
Junior Systems Administrator, these are the essential skills that will be required:
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be UK citizens from birth
- A-Level education (or equivalent) with strong IT, English and Maths skills
- Experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory environments
- Linux administration experience including Debian/Ubuntu, NFS, SSH and web servers
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals
- Basic scripting experience using Bash and/or PowerShell
- Understanding of system security principles and business continuity planning
- Strong troubleshooting, organisation and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with PKI certificate management
