Key Account Manager – Electrical Wholesale

Location: Northampton
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

About ENER-J SMART

ENER-J SMART is a rapidly growing UK smart living, lighting and electrical products business supplying electrical wholesalers, contractors, retailers and trade customers across the UK and Europe.

Our portfolio includes smart electrical products, wireless kinetic switches, LED lighting, smart security, heating, bathroom products and other innovative solutions for the electrical trade.

As we continue to expand our wholesale business, we are looking for a commercially driven Key Account Manager to join our Northampton team.

The Role

This is an office-based sales and account management role focused on growing relationships and sales with electrical wholesale customers.

You will manage a portfolio of allocated accounts, develop relationships with buyers and branch managers, identify opportunities to increase sales and introduce new ENER-J products into existing accounts.

A major part of the role will involve proactive telephone sales and email communication. You will regularly contact customers with new products, promotions, pricing, stock opportunities and commercial proposals.

This is not a passive account management position. We are looking for someone who actively creates sales opportunities, follows up leads and works to grow customer accounts.

What You Will Do

• Manage and grow allocated electrical wholesale accounts.

• Make proactive outbound calls to customers and prospects.

• Build relationships with buyers, branch managers and key decision makers.

• Identify opportunities to increase product range, stock profiles and branch penetration.

• Introduce new products, promotions and commercial offers.

• Follow up quotations, proposals and sales opportunities.

• Monitor purchasing patterns and identify opportunities for account growth.

• Reactivate dormant and lower-volume customers.

• Work closely with sales, marketing, product, warehouse and management teams.

• Maintain accurate customer records and work towards agreed sales targets.

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in electrical wholesale, electrical distribution, lighting or electrical manufacturing.

You may currently be working in internal sales, account management, business development, branch sales or key account management within the electrical or trade sector.

An understanding of how UK electrical wholesale operates, together with experience dealing with wholesalers, branches, buyers or contractors, would be highly advantageous.

The Person

You should be confident on the telephone, commercially minded and comfortable starting conversations with customers.

You should enjoy finding opportunities rather than simply waiting for orders to arrive. Strong communication, relationship-building and follow-up skills are essential.

You will need to be organised, comfortable managing multiple accounts and opportunities, and confident using email, Microsoft Office and customer databases.
