Kitchen Assistant – Part Time – 30-Bed Care Home – Churston, Brixham – AV2038B

Location: Churston, Brixham, Devon
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Shift: 8am – 2pm
Working Pattern: 4 shifts per week

About the Role

We are recruiting a friendly and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join a welcoming 30-bed residential care home in the beautiful Churston area of Brixham.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the kitchen team to provide fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for our residents. You will help ensure the kitchen operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.

Working 24 hours per week across 4 shifts, from 8am to 2pm, you will assist with food preparation, serving meals, washing up and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the cook and wider kitchen team with daily food preparation
  • Help prepare and serve meals and refreshments to residents
  • Support with plating and presentation of meals
  • Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Keep kitchen areas clean, tidy and hygienic
  • Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures
  • Assist with stock rotation and storage of food supplies
  • Dispose of waste appropriately
  • Help maintain a safe and organised kitchen environment
  • Support the team to provide residents with a positive mealtime experience
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or care environment is preferred but not essential
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene is desirable
  • A friendly, reliable and hardworking approach
  • Good standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • Willingness to follow food safety and health & safety procedures
  • A caring and respectful attitude towards older people
