Kitchen Assistant

We’re recruiting for Kitchen Assistants to earn £13.00 per hour. You will be supporting the preparation and service of nutritious meals for pupils and staff, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, safety and efficiency within the school kitchen.

Kitchen Assistant role: 

• Assist with washing, peeling and basic preparation of ingredients.
• Support cooking and meal assembly under the direction of the Head Cook or Catering Manager.
• Serve food to pupils and staff in a friendly and efficient manner, maintaining portion control and presentation standards.
• Prepare dining areas, counters, serving stations and equipment.
• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces in line with food hygiene standards.
• Wash and sanitise dishes, trays and cutlery.
• Follow food safety regulations for the correct storage and handling of food.
• Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a clean and organised kitchen.
• Assist with stock rotation, storage and basic inventory tasks.
• Receive and store deliveries in accordance with food safety guidelines.
• Report equipment faults, hazards or shortages to the Head Cook or Catering Manager.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Follow school safeguarding, Health and Safety and hygiene policies.
• Support special events, themed menus and school functions 

Kitchen Assistant pay:  

£13.00 per hour.
